Trying the new paint

I took a break from watercolor land to try out some water soluble oils, not many colors, but no smell.
The photo is a bit tilted, but you get the idea, the composition came from a French "Magic Lantern" collection of tinted images.

Birds of the Wave and Woodland

http://www.archive.org/stream/birdsofwavewoodl00robi

I've had this fascination with birds lately. I love this book because not only are the illustrations great, but it also mentions bird descriptions, etc from various poems. Enjoy!

The start of some beautiful paintings...

Peonie One
I am working on these without gauche or acrylic so that they have a lighter, freer look.

Ninon De Lenclos, On Her Last Birthday

So let me have the rouge again,
And comb my hair the curly way.
The poor young men, the dear young men
They'll all be here by noon today.

And I shall wear the blue, I think-
They beg to touch its rippled lace;
Or do they love me best in pink,
So sweetly flattering the face?

And are you sure my eyes are bright,
And is it true my cheek is clear?
Young what's-his-name stayed half the night;
He vows to cut his throat, poor dear!

So bring my scarlet slippers, then,
And fetch the powder-puff to me.
The dear young men, the poor young men-
They think I'm only seventy!

Consistancy

My family is from East Texas
I've been to Canada, never to Mexico
I learned to line dance in a Boston gay bar

After the space flights we moved
Small and different, large learning
The seasons were constant, a delight

I ran away to a mountainous rainforest at 25
The rain was soft and constant running to the ocean
The birds were quiet
we never felt wet

Now I live in a humid desert
The rain is loud and dramatic
The birdsong is loud and constant
We only get wet from sweat running through the neighborhood

I wait to start an adventure
To see the middle, the part I missed
Travel anywhere and everywhere
Constantly falling in love with whatever is new

Finding my Way

I hear that the world may be ending next week.
A week from Friday, seems like forever.

The path seems less than clear
The tools and mediums are eluding my grasp

I would be the first to say, "I don't know what I am doing"
The you would say that means I am on the right track

What is it to know what is true and real?
To know where you are going or what you should do next

All I have I gave to you
For a glimpse of the long road ahead

Out on a Lark

Over a month ago we met
In the hipster pastry electronic scone morning
The only birds present were you and me

You had a big cup of distraction with your responsible dessert
I had already had enough caffine and obligation.

You said you lived on a boat
I found that strange, no water

We were not able to give each other the gift of relating
The gift you gave me was better than that
Appreciation for being alone

Rose Falling

Today I can fall into the inner folds of a rose.
Gently coaxing and caressing them to emerge from the surface of the paper.

I fall in to a rose
Maybe never again to fall into your arms.
Caressing is uncertain

So far away
falling into a rose
Will you hear my tears?
